The 2 seater has a lot more luggage room and is considered a "true roadster". According to the BMIHT certificate this car was built Sept. 9, 1959. This beautiful ar spent most of its life in Southern California where it was not exposed to the damages of severe corrosion. Finished in the original color combination of Healey Blue with a dark blue interior this Healey does not only look sharp but is also a strong and great driver. This car, with proper care, will be very reliable for many years to come. The car has been upgraded with a Healey center shift transmission with overdrive, Koni shock conversion, cockpit heat insulation so you can drive without being cocked, aluminum fuel tank, dual pipe muffler system. The Lotus Turbo Esprit was first seen by the American public on the cover of the December, 1980 issue of Road & Track magazine. R&T gave it a rave review calling it "an enthusiast driver's dream car". For some reason the factory chose not to meet US emission and safety standards so sales were limited to the overseas market. There was however a set of regulations in existence at that time that would allow certain auto dealers to import cars that were not intended for use in America and convert these cars to meet applicable standards. Loose Motor Cars, Inc. of Palo Alto California was one of these dealers. In 1981 Loose imported and federalized three of the new Esprit Turbos and converted them to meet applicable standards. This car is the third of those three and the 37th Turbo built.
